Inverted Nipple Correction Using a Combination of the Perpendicular Suture Method and the Purse-String Suture Method

چکیده
Inverted nipple is defined as a state in which part of the nipple or the entire nipple is retracted below the surface of the areola. Inverted nipples can be classified in accordance with Han and Hong’s classification [1] as follows: grade I (mild), grade II (moderate), and grade III (severe). Surgical correction aims to achieve aesthetically satisfactory nipple projection without recurrence, while also maintaining the sensory and lactation functions [2]. Various surgical methods have been suggested for correcting inverted nipples, including dermal and dermoglandular flaps, endoscopic release, internal suturing, continuous traction, and the use of artificial dermis [3-8]. The variety of surgical techniques reflects the difficulty of achieving a satisfactory outcome with any single method. A surgical technique employing 2 horizontal mattress sutures was suggested by Gould et al. [9] in 2015. This is a relatively safe and effective method, but we found that the shape of the nipple base immediately after surgery was angular, and that satisfactory nipple projection was difficult to achieve with time; accordingly, we developed a new method, as described in this report. Using the surgical method of Gould et al. [9] as a benchmark, we surmised that combining this technique with purse-string suturing would produce a better outcome. Thus, we introduce a surgical technique that combines 2 suture-based methods.

Reconstruction of Areolar Projection Using a Purse-String Suture Technique
BACKGROUND Nipple-areolar complex creation is the last step in the breast reconstruction process and plays a significant role in patients' overall satisfaction. Although numerous surgical techniques have been described to create the nipple, very few procedures address the natural contour of the areola. METHODS We describe a surgical technique using a purse-string suture for improved areolar p...
متن کاملPurse-string suture for round and oval defects: a useful technique in dermatologic surgery.
BACKGROUND Round and oval skin wounds, like facial pigmented nevi after excision, are traditionally sutured linearly for closure, leaving significant scars, which greatly influences their appearance. OBJECTIVE This article provides an overview of our experience using intradermal purse-string suture for round and oval defects in the faciocervical region to ascertain whether purse-string suture...
متن کاملClosure of round cutaneous defects progressively with the purse string suture technique
INTRODUCTION There are many closure techniques available to cutaneous surgeons. One of them is the purse-string suture which is used to provide complete or partial closure of round skin defects. In our animal study; we closed skin defects with using subcuticular purse string suture technique by progressively cinching wound and we aim to more rapidly healing according to secondary healing. متن کاملA simple technique for the excision of cutaneous carcinoma: the round block purse-string suture
BACKGROUND Purse-string suture is a simple technique that can be used to reduce the surface area of circular wounds in an effort to obtain minimal scarring. In this report, we provide evidence of the effectiveness of the purse-string suture as a stand-alone procedure that allows a permanent primary complete closure of small to moderate skin defects. The procedure is used primarily for the repai...
